Hypertension

diastolic BP ≥ 90 mmHg or systolic BP ≥ 140 mmHg

 

Severe hypertension

diastolic BP ≥ 110 mmHg or systolic BP ≥ 160 mmHg

 

Hypertensive crisis

diastolic BP ≥ 120 mmHg or systolic BP ≥ 180 mmHg

 

Mild pre-eclampsia

Proteinuria WITH:

  1. aThe hospital protocol categorises hypertension in hypertension, severe hypertension and hypertensive crisis. If a definite diagnosis could not be made due to absent or unreliable data on proteinuria, the diagnosis made by the clinician was used to determine inclusion in this study
