The bold horizontal line represents the median while the bottom and top of the box correspond to the 25th and 75th percentiles, respectively; the height of the box is denoted by interquartile range (IQR); the end of the whiskers represent the lowest datum still within 1.5 IQR of the lower quartile, and the highest datum still within 1.5 IQR of the upper quartile.
