A 2B adenosine receptor agonist NECA improves and H-89 inhibitor attenuates trophoblast proliferation. Trophoblast cells were stimulated with an A2B receptor agonist (NECA, 10 μM) or antagonist (MRS 1754, 1 μM) and a protein kinase A inhibitor H-89 (10 μM) at 2% O2, 8% O2 or 21% O2. Cell numbers were counted at 24 h (A) and 48 h (B) after stimulation. Data are presented as mean ± SEM based on six to eight independent experiments, *p < 0.05.
