Panel (c) represents the standardized birth weight specific infant mortality of "normal" births, while panel (d) presents the standardized birth weight specific infant mortality of "compromised" births. Panel (e) shows the total birth weight specific infant mortality. Finally panel (f) compares the total birth weight specific infant mortality with and without ( A s , 1 * = 0 ) the direct effect in the "compromised" Af. Am. F. subpopulation and the total mortality curve for Eur. Am. F. is also presented.
